More good news from across the Ditch as Harpreet has just found a job as a software engineer!
We caught up with him over Zoom to ask about his time with us and what he thought about the Industry Connect initiative.
What was your background before joining Industry Connect?
I was working earlier on as a software engineer, but then I had a 5-year gap during which I was working in deployment, I was a deployment engineer.
So what do you think of the Industry Connect initiative?
I took 4 or 5 months to decide if I should join you guys or not, but what decided it for me was working with MVP Studio, I wanted to get the commercial experience of working on a real product. That’s what excited me and motivated me to join.
What did you think of MVP Studio community?
From a development perspective, I think it’s pretty hard, but it’s not like you can’t crack it. It is easily crackable, but only if you work at it to get to that certain point. And if you’re going to have a strong point, make sure you have the technical knowledge behind it and you know how to handle it. That will be the measured highlight of your whole interview.
What would you suggest to others who are willing to get into this industry?
The only thing is that everybody has to work hard, but you have to work in the right direction. Most people are directionless, they don’t have the proper direction in which to work. You need to know how you’re going to implement your knowledge and how you’re going to use it on the correct path.
So I think that is supplemented by Industry Connect and MVP Studio. You are working on something, but how do you reassure yourself you’re on the right path? This internship helped me a lot, learning the technical concepts, and if you just want a local reference too, then it helps. But a local reference only works if you’ve got the technical knowledge to go along with it.
Well thank you Harpreet and congrats again on your new job as a software engineer!
