I wouldn’t have got this job without Industry Connect, there’s no question about it.
Alex Jin is our latest graduate to land his dream job, this time as an analyst programmer!
An analyst programmer analyzes and designs information systems, and designs and writes the application programs for the system.
In theory, a programmer analyst is both systems analyst and applications programmer. A big ask for one person!
Fortunately, Alex came to us first and we taught him well!
We caught up with him before he started his new job to ask about his time with Industry Connect and Aimy+.
How was your journey with Industry Connect?
The journey with Industry Connect and Aimy really gets you into the software lifecycle, so it helps you exactly what’s happening.
You’re given tasks, and the struggling in completing those tasks is the whole process. You’re never going to go into a job and know exactly what you’re doing, so working here prepares you for that.
It’s a lot of research and personal development, just through coding and getting better at it, so that really helped me with research skills and initiative to actually find out what the problem is without getting disheartened.
I think C# was actually much harder than SQL, so if you’re stuck on something right now, it’s not hard to find the answer. But C# definitely puts you on the right path to go coding. You’re always going to struggle at the start, so this gets you used to it.
It lets you learn early if you really want to be a programmer; you’ll find out forever if you want to do it or you won’t.
Also the help was great! I want to say I had you, ray, and I’m still in contact with Danny. I Had all this resource that I could tap into.
I think as long as you’re motivated to actually ask and be curious about what you do, get involved with the meet-ups, the scrum meetings… that’s all beneficial. You pretty much get into a work environment, which is really nice.
Would you recommend Industry Connect to everyone?
I wouldn’t have got this job as an analyst programmer without Industry Connect, 100%, there’s no question about it.
It really puts you on that pathway, there’s no denying it, and anyone who got a job can vouch for it, so it definitely works.
I would 100% recommend Industry Connect.
