“Even though I have two years of experience in India, I still faced lots of problems getting a job.”

Another week, another success story from Industry Connect!

This time it’s Prabha who has found a job as an automation test analyst. Even with experience in India, he found it hard to get a job here in New Zealand.

Then he joined us.

We caught up with him to ask about his time with Industry Connect and his thoughts on the course.

Congratulations Prabha on your new job as an automation test analyst! Tell us, how was your journey with Industry Connect?

Before I joined Industry Connect I was struggling a lot to get into my field, even though I have two years of experience in India, I still faced lots of problems getting a job.

So after getting into Industry Connect I had six weeks of training which really helped me and then I jumped into the MVP studio.

When I was there, I used to get some of the task assignments; one, two, three – like that – so during those assessments my course gets smarter and smarter and I got lots of ideas.

So even though I knew how to code, how to present presentation or how to communicate with people, after coming into the MVP Studio I was sharpened more. Even my codes spoke very well, it was so shorter!

The people I used to have during my sessions and during my others meetings and those staffs, they were really good and they are really helpful. Even if you’re stuck at any time you can just straight away text them or call them and they were really helpful. Everyone is helpful at MVP Studio and Industry Connect and they really helped me a lot during those days.

Yeah that’s one of the main pieces of advice I can I give to other people who are looking for their dream job. It was really good, it was a really good time and I strongly recommend other people to join.

What do you think was the most useful thing you learned?

Communication is the first thing I will say because in my first job, I actually wou;dn’t give my opinion, which I felt very disappointed with. After that I used to tell my opinion with other people but after joining Industry Connect, the communication with other people.

Some of my team members are in Australia and some of my team members are in Singapore, so we are in different locations, so we don’t know each other before, and still we didn’t see each other each other face to face, but while working as a team we used to collaborate in a friendly way and we used to help each other. Even now, today, the people who were in my team, they are ready to help me.

So I tell people that communication is the main thing I learned from MVP Studio and collaboration. Working collaboratively will give you a better result than working individually even though self-learning is a good thing, but communicating with people and peer reviews is very important thing.

Would you recommend Industry Connect?

Yeah! Even when I got lots of LinkedIn messages from outside of Industry Connect, they asked me “How is Industry Connect and MVP Studio”, and I used to tell them “I strongly recommend you join” because I know I have some technical stuff from my background knowledge but still Industry Connect knows the proper steps on the proper way of writing the code.

Well thank you very much Prabha and good luck in your new job as an automation test analyst!
