We’ve been saying it for a while now, and it looks like people are finally starting to listen! Our Programming Bootcamp is AWESOME. It’s so awesome in fact, the Government has finally gotten in on the act.

Immigration NZ and Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) are now sponsoring our programming bootcamp! The six-week course runs throughout June and July, and 20 lucky people signed up for free.

The Purpose

This sponsorship is part of a pilot programme to help international students gain employment after they graduate. Immigration NZ want these bright young stars to join the workforce here and help grow our economy. Industry Connect have been doing this for years, so it was a perfect match!

How it works

Our programming bootcamp has been specifically designed to help graduates make the move from classroom to job offer. The bootcamp teaches the necessary skills needed to start a job in the real world, and at the same time make connects with potential employers.

Why sign up?

There are three main reasons for doing our job-ready bootcamp:

Work experience

You’ll be very lucky to find a company that will hire someone straight out of university without any experience, that’s where we can help. You’ll soon find that being the smartest in your class doesn’t count for much when it comes to lack of experience in the real world.

Find a job at the end of it

Nearly all of our programming bootcamp graduates go on to find a job in the industry, and many of our own employees are former bootcamp attendees. This industry is growing, and we need experienced, capable workers, but any potential employer will usually be more concerned with your work experience than your qualifications.

Gain Confidence- professional & social

There’s a big difference in what you learn sitting in a classroom and using that knowledge in the real world. Our programming bootcamp is a great way to show that you’ve taken in what you were taught and that you can apply it in a work environment. This not only adds to your confidence, but your resume too. And when you go for an interview, you’ll have no problems saying “Yes, I can do that.” And unlike those without experience, you’ll be able to back it up with examples!

Another huge bonus of our bootcamp is the social aspect which many people don’t expect. This programme is designed for international students, who tend not to know many people in a new country. Having English as a second language doesn’t help when it comes to making new friends and gaining social confidence, but here everyone is in the same boat. Many people come out of the course with life-long friends and a new social circle.

Who can do it?

The course is designed for anyone with a history, background or even an interest in programming. All we ask for is determination, passion and a willingness to work with others. It’s aimed towards international students and graduates, but anyone can apply. If you think it’s something you’re interested in, please contact us today. The next programming bootcamp is just around the corner!
