“You guys have done a very good job with the internship, I thought it was amazing”

More good news from Melbourne, this time it’s Rajiv who has just landed a job as a system analyst!

We gave him a call before he started his new job to ask about his time with Industry Connect in Australia and what he thought of the programme.

Congratulations on your new job as a system analyst Rajiv! What was your background before you joined Industry Connect?

I had a got amount of IT background, about 15 years in IT. But the last few years after coming to Australia, I wasn’t in an IT job, I was doing something else because I couldn’t find a 9-5 IT job. My last IT job was as a project manager or scrum master with one of the big companies in India.

When I first came here, I got some interviews, about 5 or 6, but I couldn’t get past the interview stage. After a year of this I hit survival mode, so I started looking for jobs so I could take care of my family. So yeah, for the next few years I was doing other work. I got my diploma in massage therapy and that’s what I did for almost 3 years.

I know about Industry Connect and was in touch even back then, but I was worried about doing the internship and then not getting a job, so I didn’t want to take the risk. That was always in the back of my mind.

What did you think of MVP Studio?

Very helpful!

I was very excited when I say the whole system and when the training started I was asked to be put straight into the project directly because I thought I knew what I was doing, but I was told no, you’ll do the training first, and now I understand why.

You guys have done a very good job with the internship, I thought it was amazing. The way a person can move up the ladder by gaining points… incredible. All the knowledge people learn in the virtual world and then you bring it into the building – I love it!

It’s very easy to lose motivation when working online, but you guys made it very easy to stay motivated. These communities actually keep you motived, these communities. You build a network and then build confidence and then things just go from there.

Would you recommend Industry Connect to others?

Yes, if they are interested in getting into the technical side, then definitely. I have talked to so many people already and they also think it’s a good idea. The thought of a newcomer getting into an internship, building a network, connect with a community, work on their own, improve their communication skills… it’s a very good place, I highly recommend it.

Thank you for your time Rajiv and good luck in your new job as a system analyst!
